That is a really mesmerizing image.
Thanks for sharing your impressions, Steve, I appreciate the compliment. I never know how these double exposures will turn out exactly (which of the two exposures "pushes" into the foreground. Here I've been experimenting with taking the blue flower sharp and then the red flower bed with the lens turned out of focus. The more you go out of focus, the nicer the bokeh you get. When I make the same two shots in the sequence 1-2/ 2-1 (motif-background) I mostly get different results, so I usually try both. It's fascinating and exciting.
 
In Oregon, the seasons are changing from a long, overly-heated summer to the crispness of fall. The trees have been full of a variety of birds, large and small, many of whom are migrating to new homes. But this one small bird, lying on the stones alongside the nearby railroad tracks, will not be joining in any more migrations.
