Many years ago, in a previous lifetime, when I was living in Paris and going to school, I bought my first couteau Opinel. This is my second one, aeons later... and I am reminded, again, of why I love these French knives: not because of the carbon steel blades (which are excellent), or because of the cool locking collar - but, simply, because of their old-fashioned wooden handles.

Late entry after a somewhat busy evening, this is the first ever motive I have actually turned the car around to catch. Caught it in a glimpse, in a fraction of a second and just had to make it.
