We came across this tree recently, behind Tortworth church in Gloucestershire.
It's recorded that the tree was planted from a Sweet Chestnut nut in 800 A.D.
Unfortunately it's on private land right behind the cemetery wall with limited access and restricted view.
I only had my little TG5 travel camera with me, so couldn't capture a wide view of it.

This is one of the very few remaining Horse Chestnut trees still standing along the Broad Walk of the Bathurst Estate in Cirencester, Gloucestershire.
There used to be over a hundred of them lining the avenue, which was almost 3 miles long.
Sadly, they're coming to the end of their lives and most have already fallen.
They are gradually being replaced by Small-Leaved Lime trees, which I look forward to seeing in another hundred years or so.

That's a full-sized human, giving a sense of scale.
