One of my favourite trees because it's easy to separate the tree from the background.

I noticed this only after I got home and edited the RAW ... I stayed behind this tree for about an hour hoping to see a large bird of prey ... while it was sitting above me not saying anything ... how rude.

Looks like a magnolia, one of the oldest flowering plants, IIRC.
