I suspect when the flight deck is tidy someone is having a bad day.

A) When I see carriers and they've carefully hauled the whole hangar up onto the deck I always hear a little kid's voice saying "hey look at all my toys!"

B) Look at Bill, using some modern, new-fangled wifi tech! Next thing you know, he's going to tilt a screen... I nearly spit coffee out when I read that.

When the deck is empty, everyone is below working like there's no tomorrow. Plus what good is an ESG (Expeditionary Strike Group - fancy name that replaced Carrier Strike Group) unless you can show off the Air Wing? The Air Group CO has to make points if he's going to get his own carrier someday.
