Wanted to drop some sweet, sweet pics from the first outing with this lens and some initial thoughts.
Thoughts:
At f/2.8 and pretty close to the MFD here
Crop into the face to see the detail. This is at f/2.8 - so this actually impressed me.

Thoughts:
- I love the size of the lens. 20mm and FX coverage - YES!
- The focus ring is large and easily bumped depending on how you hold the camera...so be aware of this. Luckily, I have yellow highlights on so it is obvious to me when I do it accidentally. I may consider turning off the focus override for normal shooting conditions.
- I read that on the Sony e-mount version, the lens hood was easy to bump off. Not sure if it was re-designed or there were some people that got a bad run - the lens hood here clicks on positive and I don't see it coming off unintentionally.
- The lens feels solid.
- Optics - I think this thing is pretty darn sharp, even wide open. These first test run was on the Zf and a second test will be with the Z8 and the higher MP sensor.
- Distortion - I found that a +10 of manual distortion control in Lightroom cleared up the barrel distortion just fine.
- Vignette - wide open is at its worst (obviously). Lightroom +11 at f/2.8 cleared up the majority of the dark corners.
- Auto focus - have not shot this in poor light so cannot comment on that just yet, but in normal daylight, it was quick and confident to lock on. Not OEM Z-mount f/1.8 (think 35/50mm), but quick.
- Bokeh - When shooting up close (I believe the MFD is 7.5 inches) and at f/2.8 - you can get some pretty nice looking out of focus areas. Was rather impressed, honestly.
