Both taken with Leica IIIc, Sonnar 50 f/1.5 with K2 filter, and Fomapan 100

Someday I need to try filters. I'm sorry to say that I never have, other than what was built into the original Minox, or what I kludged onto the Rollei 35.

It depends, I usually limit it to a light yellow filter or a Wratten 85 (orange) filter. I used to have an A36 neutral density filter but that didn't survive a car crash.
Strangest thing I've done is use orange-tinted sunglasses as an improvised filter once, shooting a cloudscape I came across driving in the middle of nowhere.

Leica IIIc, 5cm f/2.5 Hektor, Fomapan

My Father never claimed his medals after the War was over- we kids asked him to do so over 20 years past the end of the war. He gave away a Purple Heart awarded during the War, but kept his Air Medal awarded by General Chenault. The General liked doing the honors when visiting Air bases during the war, my Dad told me.
One of Dad's B-29's, broke in half on Takeoff with a full load of bombs. I'm lucky to be here.

Hang on, I never actually connected this before; Is Charles W. Sweeney your father? :eek-9:

We lucked into a Civil War demonstration at the Manassas Museum after Lunch today-

Nice.
Does the "Wet Plate" mainly add vignetting and flatten the curve a bit?
Highlights certainly appear to be reduced a bit from white to grey. Looks like what I get out of my Fomapan 100 ;)

That's correct- vignetting and flattens the curve.

I ran my Gamma-Curve Fortran code on this set, will post some comparisons in a different thread later on.

Sorry I missed this! Better late than never:

My Dad - Joseph W. Sweeney, told me Charles was a cousin of his.I have a picture of Charles W Sweeney: looks just like my Dad.

I always tell people that My Dad flew B-29s, but came from the side of the family that did not have the patience to do all that practice just to drop one bomb.

See...

I assume the camels represent the times that they've crossed the "hump" with this particular aircraft.

The low contrast/resolving power of the Sonnar is something that I'm not overly fond of, but it does add a bit of softness to these type of portraits that I like.

Understand about the lower contrast- what filters are you using? I found at least a yellow-2 is required, and a Y3 or Orange is even better.

Dad flew "The Hump" a couple of times. Also flew a few Search and Rescue missions with fuel loaded into the Bomb Bay- 24Hr missions looking for downed fliers.
