To really confuse things: There were two very different versions of the Nikkor-P 105mm F2.5. The first version is the Sonnar formula lens, SN under 254,000. This lens started off as a Rangefinder lens and was introduced in 1952. It is a 5 element in 3 group "1-3-1" Sonnar.

The 5-element in 4-group Planar formula lens, also the Nikkor-P, had SN starting around 400,000- to differentiate from the Sonnar version. This Planar version was later introduced with multi-coated optics as the Nikkor-PC 105 F2.5. Not to be confused with a Perspective Control lens.

Well it will be used on an F100 and a Fuji XT3 so if it's not Ai'd it will have to get that way. Just want one of the old scalloped barrel lens. Their said to be a little softer around the edges than the Ais or even the Ai version. If you want near perfection just get the AIS version and call it a day.

You want the Sonnar version of the 105/2.5, as long as the SN is below 254,000- it's the version you want.
