I have a small electric motor (<1/2 hp) that is single speed. I’d like to make this variable speed. Someone suggested that a rheostat would be damaged/destroyed in this case. There are several “fan speed” controllers out there but mine isn’t a fan… does it really matter? My application is for a power tool.
Use will be short bursts, 5-10 minutes, on a few dozen experiments. While I’m experimenting, I don’t want damage my motor.
