Fuji Why are RAF files bigger?

wt21

Hall of Famer
Looking through some test shots, I see the Fuji RAF files tend to be around 25MB for ISO 200 and OMD ORF files tend to be around 15MB.

This doesn't make any sense, because they are both about 16MP. Also, the Fuji generally is a little less noisy.

Are ORF files compressed RAW (hopefully loss-less??) and Fuji un- or less-compressed? Is Fuji more bits?

Anyone know the answer?

Someone on DPR just answered, too. Said the tell-tale sign is the file size. RAF files are ALWAYS 26.1MB. I see my Canon 6D files and OMD files change each time, because they are compressed, so the size of the file is determined by how much can be compressed.

EXR Processor II RAFs have variable size, too, but I have a feeling it may be due to different sizes of the embedded JPEG preview.
