I've only ever seen one live mole, when it just happened to be emerging from its burrow alongside me when I was having a picnic.
To be honest, I've not seen that many dead ones either, but sadly this little fellow was in the latter category.

Mind you he wasn't that small; a good hand span of mine I reckon........and quite chunky.

On an outing via a southern village we saw a creature up ahead, walking oddly across the road. It took a moment to recognise it as a koala - creatures of the treetops, which look very out-of-place on the ground. He headed past the houses, heading for the taller gumtrees; reaching the nearest, he rubbed his chin on its trunk before climbing to the first branch, where he roared for a while.

For what is generally considered a cute creature, they sound like devils.

Lots people, nearly all tourists, have seen how cuddly those creatures are and have made the mistake of wanting to give them a stroke or cuddle, simply because of the way they look (that Qantas advert of years gone by in the UK no doubt perpetuating this). The reality is one needs to stay the hell away from them they will come for you if you approach them and they know how to hurt you!
