Your comment is interesting because, indeed, parts of the surrounding landscape - mountains, trees, rivers and the like - can be very spectacularly beautiful. But, equally, there are other parts which appear humdrum and mundane. I think it all depends on specifically where one happens to be (I know, that's a generality) - but also on how a person sees - or looks at - the world around them.
I feel thankful to live in a place where I can see beauty very close to where I live.
