Fuji X-Pro 1 command dial

While I await my X-Pro 1, I've been looking through the manual, looking on the web and trying to familiarize myself with its controls. One question I don't know if I've really gotten a good answer to (because of the various firmware updates, the camera has evolved a lot) is about the command dial.

Is it really that limited in use? And if it is, do you wish it did more? What does it do with current firmware that it didn't at the start?

I am thinking things like program shift would be much easier with it and a few other little things (it may not be a big deal at all, but without a camera in hand, I'm just comparing it to other cameras I've had).

The other thing I'm not clear on is with the 27mm. You do adjust the aperture with the command dial, correct?

Thanks, and sorry for such a simple question, I just couldn't find any good answers here or by searching, although I am sure they are both places.

Thanks.
