Fuji X-T5 Image Thread

I've thought about this lens, but I already have the 18-55, which is was an amazing little bargain used. How do you feel about the weight/size of the 16-80?
It's not much different to the 18-55...the most noticeable physical difference is the size of the lens cap! (72mm). The other noticeable thing was that the images were flatter than the 18-55mm... I needed to up the contrast in PP. The extra reach at both ends is useful but I got it for the weather proofing. I'm hoping to go abroad next year and that'll be to dusty, sandy places and I'll still be outside even if it's raining.

Hmmm... I think (well... know) that I was wrong about the "flatness" of the 16-80mm compared to the 18-55mm. A quick out-the-bedroom-window test of the two lenses taken with identical settings, my Eterna v3 recipe and no PP at all. Left: 18-55mm Right: 16-80mm

I recently added a XF16-80 to the lens stable for my X-T2. It's quite a bit larger than the XF18-55. Not a huge increase in weight though.

With all the whining and bellyaching over at DPR regarding the image quality, I've been pleased.

I bought it predominantly as a travel lens as I found the XF18-55 limiting on my trip to Europe last year.

Here is a sample image from my trip to Seattle last month:

Cheers,

The 16-80 is a fine lens and a great range. I found it better on the XT3/XT4 body style. Since I only have the XPro2 - I prefer the size of the 18-55 and have gone back to that.

Couldn't agree more. I don't currently use the XF18-55 on my X-Pro2, I did use it on the it's predecessor the X-Pro1. While it was fine there, IMHO, the X-Pro's are more comfortable with a prime, in my case the vaulted XF35 f1.4.

A few more 16-80mm piccies from this morning. I spent two hours wandering round Croft Castle holding my X-T5 plus this lens and the small weight increase over the 18-55mm wasn't noticable after a few minutes. What was noticable was how much I enjoyed having the 16mm angle and the close focus ability.

I've never really found much use for the Nostalgic Neg film sim on the X-T5... it doesn't seem to suit the lush greenery of the UK countryside and the sort of piccies I like to take. However; messing around in lightroom I found that applying the Nostalgic Neg profile to a RAW image, then completely desaturating it gave this effect... (I've also raised the black point and lowered the white point in the curves, increased the clarity and decresed the texture and dehaze to get a soft effect). It reminds me very much of some old B&W films... especially Casablanca that I was watching last night and trying to emulate.

We had a visit from a tiny fast moving hedgehog yesterday. Very cute, probably very hungry and not shy at all. In the end, we gave it the cat’s lunch.

I’m quite amazed by the x-t5’s autofocus. Lots of pictures, and lots seem to be in focus. I moved a few with the Fujifilm app to my iPhone, to see how that works.

Today I bought an extra 128GB SD-card. The raw files + jpg’s are huge

All SOOC jpg’s.

A few willing models.

And I must say I’m impressed by the X-T5 & Sigma 18-50. The X-T5’s interface works out well for me. And the autofocus with eye-focus works well. I find myself using the back screen more often then the viewfinder.

edit; all SOOC pics, using the Fujifilm app to an iPad.

I can see my wife grabbing up and hugging the chicken in the first photo.

Good luck trying to catch her  She went missing this morning and we found her in a neighbours garden. The chase put us to shame o_O :ROFLMAO:

She’s in the second picture as well. The first is different mainly because of perspective I think. I held the camera way down, used the back-screen and zone-focus with bird recognition.

We've had a few that could put NFL defensive players to shame. So I know that battle. Usually we let our 11yo take on the task of catching the quick ones.
