Since i couldn’t get just a baseplate for the X-T50, I got the Small Rig baseplate with grip. Well made, matched the charcoal silver color of my camera, and only $29. It feels great with the 27 mm. However, just like a diet of fast food, it comes with a big but. When I used the 35 mm f/1.4, the 60 f/2.4, or the 16-80 f/4, my fingers have trouble getting between the grip and the lens. My hands are medium according to American glove sizes, the space between grip and lens is smaller than my fingers. Large hands would be even more encumbered. I also notice no grip from Fuji. Not a dealbreaker, but a warning to those with oversized mitts.

Is the grip not removable?

Sure. The question is how many of your favorite lenses fit with it. I like it just to protect the bottom of my X-T50, but I’ll only be able to use it with my smaller lenses.

I meant the L part of the grip, the part that your fingers go around, not the baseplate that you want to use to protect the bottom of the camera. Normally, the grip portion attaches to the baseplate with small bolts, and the two pieces are easily separated. At least that's been my experience with the several that I've owned. I don't own a SmallRig one, hence my question. From photos, it would appear that they do come apart ...

I see what you mean. That would make it easier to hold with a fatter lens, although the base plate will still stick out that far. I wish I could have bought just a baseplate.

Amusingly, when I added the 1.4 TC to the 70-300 on the X-T50, the added grip worked better because the TC is narrower than the lens. I actually now use the X-T5 for walkabout and leave the long zoom/TC on the X-T50.

I never think of half cases, probably because I use wrist straps. I might consider this.
Not sure why a half case and wrist straps would be mutually exclusive. Some do have the loops that wrap around the lugs, but I think most don't. I add half cases to most of my smaller bodies and I'm sure I haven't used a neck strap since I sold my last DSLR.

I got both the 1/2 case and grip for the X100vi I had. For my X-T5 I just have the grip.
