The Xpro-1 X-trans sensor is well known for superb high ISO performance. Most photographers have tested the Xpro-1 up to ISO 6400 with little or known issues with noise in the photos. I decided to push the ISO of the Xpro-1 to 12800, pushing the Xpro-1 out of the “tested” comfort zone.

A little NR could help this image ... I see a lot of distracting noise. (joking) Hey, how about some color examples?

Its good thing you don't have this kitten Luke. They tree would be destroyed. :) This is the first time I have used anything above ISO 800 on the Fuji. Wow, I like it noise/grain/whatever you call it. That works really well with B/W. I'm going to start experimenting with this. I'm just so lazy. I usually just use ISO 200/400/800. I've never even adjusted the thing off factory settings and I think I'm at least 1 version late on the firmware on both Fuji's. I'll try and shoot something else later. I'm glad I looked at this one. I really like that picture with all the bubbles and the street vendor shot. I need to be a bit more open minded on using the camera. Oh yeah, ISO 12800, JPEG, STD, and I think F2.0 or 1.8.

are you saying this kitten shot is ISO12800? Wow. To be honest, most of the time I don't even bother thinking about ISO anymore with the Fuji. I just set it on Auto6400 and let the camera choose. The noise is so minimal it just doesn't bother me. Obviously above 6400 things start to fall apart pretty fast and this is just for demonstration purposes, but it's good to know it's there and useable for small prints. The Christmas tree was shot at night with no lights on.... the TV may have been on and there's some streetlight coming in from the window, but that's it.

Yeah, it's 12800. I'm going to try the Auto ISO today. Fascinating. I'm stalling it's raining outside and the dogs are ready to go......... We are off for the next two weeks for Xmas break. The offset for low pay for working at a college. :) I promised myself I would try taking pictures of something besides my dogs the next two weeks. I guess it's time to go get wet. Good thing I did the laundry last night. I have plenty of clean towels. :dash2:

Exactly the same thing I do. The noise also feels a bit more film like as well, it doesn't bother me at all. In contrast, my other camera's grain bothers me a good deal.

Auto iSO is a great thing when shooting on the fly. I wish there was Auto ISO back when I was working, would have made things much more automated.
