Zeiss 50mm 1.5 C Sonnar with Sony A7 II Question

I don't have a A7 II but it should behave similar to other A7 cameras. I used a few times on A7R, nice small old design Sonnar lens with nice bokeh, but sharpness esp at the edges lacks compared to modern designs. This might work for the portraits. Min focus dist is long also. So it depends on what you are going to use it for. On A7R, wide open:

If you are looking for a character lens and don't mind the big size, Mitakon 50mm 0.95 is a good option too. You can check Amin's comparison and other user sample shots:

If you are looking for other options, Loxia 50mm 2 (same design as Zeiss 50mm f2 planar) or Voigtlander 50mm 1.5 are also good:

I use also Contax g 45mm f2 lens with af adapter, again planar design, similar to Zeiss 50mm f2:

I bought the Hawk's v3 helicoid adapter after reading the comparison at dcwatch:
Voigtlander VM-E Close Focus Adapter vs Hawks factory

Adapters are good, but there might be some misalignment esp after some use with close up helicoid adapters compared to the native mount lenses. Hawk's is the one started the helicoid adapters and they had ver 4 last time I saw. I don't know how Hawk compares to Voigtlander in quality/long term use.

There is a Voigtlander close focus adapter for M to E mount.. that seems like it cuts minimum focusing distance in half if I'm reading it correctly. Voigtlander close focus M Adapter, 50 Nokton 1.5 and Sony A7r | Steve Huff Photo So about 18 inches?

And yes! I was thinking about the Mitakon too.

Thank you for all the links!

Thanks, read it, looks like Hawks gets 1mm closer which isn't a lot but is noticeable enough when looking at comparison images. I will look into the Hawks Adapter as well.
